Remind Me Faster 5.6 is fully localised in French and German, and includes further improvements for Natural Language Input. Localisation: • User interface is now translated in French and German. • Natural Language Input is now fully localised. This includes “départ” & “verlassen” for locations, and relative date detection (e.g. “in 2 Tagen”, or “dans 3 semaines”). • You can manually change the UI language in Settings app > Apps > Remind Faster > Language. Natural language input: • Natural language list & location detection are now more lenient - they’ll match even if you miss out accents or apostrophes, so typing “mums” will match a location named “Mum’s”. • Natural language input will no longer override dates or priorities that you’ve manually set. • Clearing dates that were detected by natural language input will still prevent those dates from being detected again for that reminder, but now other dates can still be typed. This should make it easier to type a time within the reminder title and type a second time afterwards to set the alert. • Detected dates, lists, and locations now show a “?” to make it clearer that they’re suggestions, not selected. Other improvements: • Custom date picker now has a preferences button that lets you set a preferred minute interval in the time picker. • Fixed a bug where editing previous text could jump the cursor to the end of the line unexpectedly.

Remind Me Faster 5.5 brings significant Natural Language Input improvements: Lists, locations, priority, and smarter date detection. Natural language input improvements: • List detection — List names typed in the reminder title will trigger a thumb-reachable button to switch in one tap. Detects partial matches (first few characters) for long list names. • Location detection — Any preset locations you’ve defined in settings will now be detected when typed in the reminder title. This triggers a thumb-reachable button to select the location. A preceding “arriving” or “leaving” is also detected. Detects partial matches (first few characters) for long location names. • Date detection — Date & time modes can now auto-switch based on what’s typed: So “Tuesday 9am” will enable date & time mode, while “Tuesday” will only set a date. Additionally, if 9am has already passed, typing 9am will now automatically select tomorrow (this was previously a setting, which has now been removed). “At ” or “on ” preceding times and dates are now also detected. • Priority detection — Typing !, !!, or !!! in a reminder title automatically sets the corresponding priority. • Any suggested lists, locations, or dates can now be accepted with a new keyboard shortcut: Shift+Cmd+Return • Most new Natural Language Input features can be disabled if you prefer. These improvements are available for free for anyone who’s already purchased the Natural Language Input feature. Other improvements: • Date & time mode toggle (in the bottom right) is now more clearly a toggle, with clearer iconography. Additionally, the selected date icon has a little flip animation when switching modes. • Long-pressing on preset times now subtracts a day, much like long-pressing ‘+24h’. • Selected date formatting now handles past dates in a friendlier way. • Selected location icon now faces away when location is set to leaving. Tap the selected location for a silly little animation. • Made list confirmation icon clearer in list picker • Renamed the unsaved reminders live activity to “Reminder rescue”, and the dynamic island view now uses the new app icon glyph with the current list colour. • Fixed a visual bug where opening the app on macOS would sometimes appear to not switch back to the correct list.

• Fixed an issue where natural language input could re-enable itself some time after being switched off.
Remind Me Faster 5.4 focuses on the core flow, bringing improvements to time controls and swipe gestures. Time controls: • Subsequent taps on Preset Times now increment to the next day. • Long-pressing on the +1/6/24h buttons now triggers more quickly, and with a new animation (For those unaware, long-pressing subtracts time instead of adding) • Time control buttons are rebuilt with improved visual responsiveness to taps and slightly updated aesthetic. Swipe gestures: • Swiping left & right to switch lists have a new animation with less effort needed to trigger. • Swiping down to invoke the thumb-reachable list picker has an updated animation with smoother performance. • Swipe gestures are now recognised anywhere below the text fields. No more invisible edge where you have to guess. Other improvements • Settings UI slightly updated to better adhere to system text size, with better contrast in some places. • Cleaned up the messy animation when launching with date-only controls as default.
Version 5.3 brings a configurable Lock Screen widget, and various bits of polish. Configurable Lock Screen widget: • This is a new widget. It launches the app, like the previous ones, but this has new configuration options: list, location, priority, and icon. • The two original widgets will remain for now, but will be removed in the future. You should replace them with this new one. • New default icon for control center shortcuts and the new Lock Screen widget. This icon can be changed if desired. Icon configuration UI now also displays iconography in-line. Other changes: • Added Bluesky and Threads contact options. • Add Reminder button grows or shrinks to denote whether an alert has been set. • Full date picker: Some visual improvements, and the ‘time & date’ control is now a toggle, eliminating a tap. • Selected date animation now properly reverses when going back in time. • Fixed long-press interaction on increment buttons (to decrement). • Increased height of swipe gesture area so it’s more discoverable. • Somewhat improved the listing of keyboard shortcuts in iPadOS and macOS.
• Fixed a bug that could cause a crash if ‘last used’ list option is selected and the Reminders list is deleted between app launches. • Fixed a bug where the ‘last used’ list might incorrectly save to default list.

• Fixes an issue that prevented the app from launching on macOS.
5.1.1 is a bug fix release, but you may notice preset times reset: • Fixes a bug where crossing timezones would cause the preset times to switch to an incorrect (and rather strange) time. Various forms of this bug have been escaping my fixes for a while now, but I’m preeetty sure I got it this time. Regrettably I couldn’t maintain previously-customised preset times when fixing this, because that would risk maintaining the incorrect time if the app was updated while in a different timezone. So, you may need to customise those times again. • Also fixes a scenario where the URL scheme or share extension could break the reminder title field formatting.
Version 5.1 brings improvements to share sheet, revamped settings, improved natural language reliability, and several bug fixes. Share sheet improvements: • The share sheet should now work in more places, and with less thinking required. Specifically: • Remind Me Faster should now appear in the share sheet for many more apps, like Apple News or App Store. • For apps that share a title and URL, these will be filled in the title and note fields in Remind Me Faster respectively. • For apps that only provide a URL (such as Safari), Remind Me Faster will attempt to generate a useful title, based on the URL. This will be extracted from the last component of the URL, when possible. Failing that it will use the host name. Settings revamp: • New iconography, with reorganised layout and new drill-down sections for Preset times, preset locations, and natural language input. • Preset Locations can be reordered, so you no longer need to create them in the order you want them to appear. Locations have also been migrated to SwiftData from Core Data (which you hopefully won’t notice). • Simplified app theme selection. • A new, optional, purchases overview screen, so you can see all in-app purchases in one place. Natural language date detection: • A number of tweaks made, including disabling inline predictions for the text fields, so that they no longer interfere with the date detection. This had a habit of scrambling and duplicating what you typed, which wasn’t helpful! Hopefully, no more. • “Select next occurrence” should now work when “Auto-select dates” is disabled. Bug fixes and tweaks: • Updated design for natural language 'date detected' button. • Title field now properly refocuses if you add a reminder with the notes field focused. • Another attempt at fixing the bug where preset times would render incorrectly after crossing a timezone. • Added minimum range to location radius stepper. • Reworked custom date picker to better work with display zoom device setting.
Version 5.0 brings three new features, a lot of polish, and significant under-the-hood modernisation. Features: • Share Sheet extension - Share text or website URLs to Remind Me Faster. The text / URL will be pre-filled in the notes field. • Show unsaved reminders on Lock Screen - For those times when you get distracted before saving a reminder. This feature uses Live Activities to nudge you to finish entering it. Enable in settings. • Enhanced URL scheme - The URL scheme now supports specifying a list, title, notes, and priority. When used alongside the natural language date detection, this can also allow the URL to set dates for your reminder. See details in settings screen > URL scheme/ Polish & improvements: • A new animation accompanies ‘adding’ a reminder. • New animations for incrementing selected date, location, priority, and switching lists. • Custom date picker is redesigned to be more thumb-reachable, animate quicker, and show reminder title while entering a date. The calendar greys out dates in the past, letting you more quickly orientate yourself when choosing a date. The time picker now uses 5 minute granularity instead of 1 minute, so picking a time is quicker. • Selected repeating option now shows more clearly in the main view. • ‘Last used’ default list option now sticks even after force closing the app • In-app purchases are enabled for family sharing. • Slight improvements to voice over. Still not complete, so not yet good enough. Will keep working on this. • Support for ipad cursor button highlighting. • Improved ‘button shapes’ accessibility. • Added a mastodon contact link. • Subtle gradient backdrop used in light mode. • Updated icon for Reminders app shortcut. • Preset time buttons that have already passed on the current day will now only fade the text slightly, instead of the whole button. • You can now dismiss the list of lists by tapping the blank space. • Slightly updated the view that shows when you have no lists. • The reminder field no longer animates downward slightly upon typing the first letter. That was a bug. Sorry it took so long to fix. • Fixed a bug where day presets become out of sync if used after midnight without a force quit Modernisation: Ideally you won’t notice this, but for those interested, a lot of development time for this release went into adopting the swiftUI lifecycle, StoreKit 2, and AppStorage.
Version 4.5 brings some minor updates: • iOS 17 compatibility. • Rebuilt location editors to be more reliable and intuitive. • Minor polish to layout and aesthetics throughout.
Version 4.4 brings repeat reminders, and some smaller tweaks. • Set a reminder to repeat with a new control on the custom date picker. • Added a preference for whether the selected list resets to default on launch. • Updated reminders app shortcut icon. • Fixed a bug where opening the custom date picker via an already selected date wouldn't select the correct date in the custom view by default.
Version 4.3 brings several small tweaks • Opening the app now resets to the default list, to aid muscle memory, unless a title, note, date, location, or priority has already been set. • Tapping on selected date now opens the custom date picker. • Introduced an add/remove time option to custom date picker. • The custom date picker is now bottom anchored to be within easier reach of your thumb, aiding one handed use. • Reintroduced option to hide priority button. It’s hidden by default, but you can re-enable in settings. • Added option to contact via email. Bug fixes • Fixed bug with list title shifting slightly when adding a reminder. • Fixed (I think) an issue where opening the app from the background would format selected dates with the wrong hour until the app was force quit. • Fix visual padding issue with selected date pill when toggling time controls. • Hid (successfully, this time) custom icons when run on a Mac, since they don’t work on macOS.
Version 4.2 brings some iOS 16 updates. • Added a Lock Screen widget so you can quickly launch the app from your Lock Screen. There are two variants - one with an up arrow, and one with a plus icon - so you can pick that one that makes the most sense for you. • Also fixed a bug that distorted the drag-release gesture animation on the list switcher. Version 4.2.1 fixes a bug with changing app icons that was introduced in 4.2.
Version 4.1 brings various small improvements. Time & date controls: • Added a new button to more easily switch between ‘time & date’ controls or ‘date only’ controls. • Added a new setting to choose which controls show when the app launches. • Added one more day in the ‘date only’ controls. • Updated the design of selected time & date presets to reduce visual noise. Natural language input: • Added a new natural language input setting to automatically select tomorrow if the chosen time has passed. • When natural language input is enabled, the app will now automatically use detected dates by default. This option can still be toggle back off in settings. • Fixed a bug where the highlighted ‘date’ text would stay highlighted even after clearing the selected date. Additionally: • Updated location iconography to be more consistent. • Updated the order of some options in settings.
• Fixed a bug where the selected location wouldn't save properly if you were using 'date only' mode.
Version 4.0.1 brings a handful of tweaks and bug fixes. • Updated the app name that’s shown on the Home Screen so it no longer feels cramped. • “Date only” reminders set for today should no longer immediately generate a notification. Let me know if you preferred the previous behaviour here; I may consider introducing this as an option. • Updated the ‘detected’ dates button to work with 'date only' mode, and it now matches the colour scheme of the 4.0 update. • Fixed a bug where selecting a ‘detected’ date wouldn’t remove the appropriate text from the reminder title. • Fixed a bug that cause the app to forget when icons were purchased, meaning you get to keep hitting ‘restore purchases’ to get access to them again. Sorry about that! • Attempted to fix a crash on launch that can be caused by having no default list set for Reminders. It’s hard to know for sure that’s it’s fixed because I can’t replicate the scenario Note: This version does *not* fix the settings screen crash which some of you are experiencing. I've had no luck with this crash yet, but I’m still trying to replicate and fix it.
Version 4.0 brings some visual updates, and two big new features. • New feature - Add due dates, without a time. Tap on a selected date to remove or add the time component. You can also toggle by swiping down on the time & date controls. • New feature - Location reminders. Predefine common locations in settings, then you can add them to a reminder in a couple of taps. 2 locations are available for free. 3 more are available via an IAP. • Visual updates - Colour is no longer used everywhere. Instead it now highlights selected attributes of the reminder you're about to add. • Transition animations are now more fluid and quick. • Fixed keyboard shortcuts for switching lists and cycling priority by including option as an additional modifier now. Remember, you can hold cmd in the app to check the keyboard shortcuts that are available. • Fixed a bug where buying an IAP could show the wrong confirmation message. • Improved tap targets when choosing a list.
Remind Me Faster 3.2 just brings a few small tweaks to improve how the app behaves in iOS 15. • Sometimes launching the app in iOS 15 takes a few seconds to fetch reminder lists and causes a visual delay. I haven’t yet managed to eliminate this delay, but it should feel a bit faster and smoother now. • Fixed the layout in the settings screen. • Made some further under-the-hood optimisations for iOS 15. • The custom App Icons feature should no longer show on Apple Silicon Macs (because it doesn’t work on Macs).
