A few improvements that will hopefully solve some of the more annoying bugs. It’s been a frustrating week.

Introducing the Obscura Lock Screen Extension. That means you can now launch Obscura instantly, without even having to unlock your device, which means faster capture and fewer missed moments. And in order to provide the best Lock Screen camera experience, Obscura can now also recognise QR codes. Neat! Getting all this working was a huge amount of work over the summer, so I hope you enjoy it. I think it really elevates the experience of using Obscura, and I hope even more people make it their default camera app. And stay tuned for some more exciting updates to support the latest hardware in the very near future!

Exposure, Focus, Filters and White Balance all work the same way. Focus and Zoom have swapped Being able to quickly switch cameras is more important than ever as iPhone camera systems evolve. And since manual focus is only available in certain camera modes, it made sense to prioritise the camera picker. Quick Settings Quick Settings has swapped places with the library button, and is now in the top right corner of the screen. If you prefer the old layout, you can swap them back from Obscura’s View Options settings. Peek at Recent Photos Drag your finger outwards from the photo library button to quickly scrub through your recent photos. Dual Reticules Long Press on the reticule (the circle in the middle of the viewfinder) to enable separate focus and exposure points. Highlight Exposure Clipping Highlight on the viewfinder areas of the image that are over- or under-exposed. New Library Interface Obscura’s Library interface has been redesigned to be easy to navigate, and nicer to use, and there are more options when exporting images. ———— Obscura Ultra Obscura is also switching from a paid-up-front app, to free with subscriptions, making the app accessible to a much wide audience. Note that standard RAW capture is disabled at 2×. ProRAW is supported however. Features URL Scheme Support You can launch directly with the url 'obscura-3://' Changes White Balance Improvements We made some big improvements to the white balance system, so color temperature will be preserved when switching cameras. Bug Fixes Video Frame Rate Fix Fixed an issue preventing recording at 24 or 60fps. iPhone XR Fixes We ordered an iPhone XR and it made tracking down these issues a whole lot easier. In-App Notification UI Fix Fixed an issue where the text of an in-app notification might be the same color as the background. Layout Fix on Small Devices Fixed an issue where the camera controls might lay out incorrectly when the app is resumed from the background on small devices. Welcome to Obscura 3! We’ve got a few bug fixes to get out quickly to ensure you have a great experience right from the start. Features Added Depth Map View You can now view depth maps where available. Just open a portrait image, tap the header, and choose Depth Map from the dropdown. Disable Camera Collapse Gesture Added an option in Advanced Camera Settings to disable the camera collapse gesture if it’s not to your liking. Instead a library button is displayed at the top of the screen. Added App Icons Added a few new options for custom App Icons, including metal effect and neon. Changes Image Editing Improvements The selected filter is now highlighted, and some layout issues were fixed. Image Sharing Improvements Sharing should be compatible with more third party apps. Bug Fixes Animation Bug in Camera Controls Sometimes would not update their appearance controls until they had been interaction with. Fix Crash When Adjusting White Balance & ISO (Hopefully) Haven’t been able to reproduce these crashes, but there’s a good chance they’re fixed now. Fix Missing Capture Preview For some capture settings, a preview of the captured would not be displayed. Fix Pro Mode Crash Fixed a crash that would occur when switching from pro mode, to pro mode, on devices that don’t support ProRAW capture.
