With ClipBar 2.1, you can decide how many items to keep in your history. Set any value between 1 and 100 in Settings (where 1 restores the original ClipBar behavior of only showing what's currently in your pasteboard, without history) to customise the app's memory. If you like ClipBar, please check out my other apps and consider leaving a 5-star review in the App Store, it helps a lot! –Cesare
ClipBar 2.0 is here, introducing the most-requested feature: clipboard history! Now, with ClipBar you can also go back in time to view and use a previously copied items. ClipBar keeps the last 100 things you've copied in memory, and you can clear that history with a right click. This free update does not transform ClipBar in a fully featured (and expensive! and complicated!) clipboard manager, but it makes the app even more convenient. To view previously copied items, click on the ClipBar icon in the menu bar and use the buttons at the bottom to move left and right in your history. And if you want to make a previously copied item current again, just click on the light-blue ClipBar icon. An additional note: starting with Sequoia, macOS will not not execute global keyboard shortcuts that only include Option or Option Shift as modifiers, so if in GlanceCam's Settings > Behavior you have configured global keyboard shortcuts to bring all your windows to front or to Insta-zoom a specific window, you might need to check and possibly include an additional key like Command or Control to your shortcuts of choice to keep them working. I hope you'll enjoy using ClipBar even more!
ClipBar is ready on day one for macOS Sequoia. Without this update, on macOS 15 ClipBar would not be able to show the path of files and folders. Image sizes in the menu bar and image previews when clicking ClipBar are also working again, after a change in recent Sonoma versions that prevented them to work. If ClipBar is useful to you, 5-star reviews help a lot, and please check out my other apps! –Cesare
ClipBar 1.6 is here! This release enhances the functionality of the 'Launch at Login' feature on newer versions of macOS. Due to underlying technical changes, if you had previously configured the app to start automatically, you will need to open ClipBar's Settings and enable it again just this once. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but this change was necessary to future-proof the app. ClipBar 1.6 also includes a new feature, with special thanks to connectionfailure's App Store review for suggesting the idea: if you need it for any reason, you can now manually reset ClipBar's content for privacy by right-clicking on the app in the menu bar and selecting Clear ClipBar; this does not erase the content of your Mac's pasteboard, but removes the preview from the menu bar. Thank you for using ClipBar, and please don't hesitate to contact me at support@cdf1982.com! Ciao, Cesare
This version fixes a bug that could cause URLs copied from Safari to be displayed untruncated in the menu bar. Special thanks to Clay for reporting the issue.
ClipBar 1.5 adds a cool new trick, thanks to Peter's appreciated feature request: there's now support for adding a global keyboard shortcut to toggle the app's popover on and off. To enable this feature, please open ClipBar's Settings and click the Record Shortcut area; then, please type your favorite key combination, for instance ⌘⌥G. From now on, every time you want to review the full content of your pasteboard (and not only the preview provided by the app in the menu bar) without actually pasting it, you can invoke ClipBar with that keyboard shortcut. And what's even cooler is that ClipBar won't steal focus from the app you are in, so you don't need to switch context. When you record the shortcut, you'll need to use one or more of the following modifiers plus a letter or number: ⌘ Command ⌃ Control ⌥ Option ⇧ Shift The system checks if the shortcut is not currently registered by another application, so the perfect combination you had in mind might not be available. This was a fun feature to build, and one I believe can bring great convenience in day by day use of ClipBar. As always, I will be incredibly grateful if you decide to take the time to leave a 5-stars review, if it’s useful to you! –Cesare
This minor update improves performances on macOS Ventura. If ClipBar is useful to you and you have the time to leave a nice review, it helps a lot! –Cesare
Happy Holidays from ClipBar! This minor update improves performances on macOS Monterey, and the oldest operating system version supported is now Mojave. It's also a good chance to remind you that you can reorder ClipBar's position, or any other status bar app, by holding down the CMD key and dragging its icon with your mouse. If ClipBar is useful to you and you have the time to leave a nice review, it helps a lot! Thank you, and please stay safe! -Cesare
ClipBar wishes you a happy and healthy 2021! This version fixes a bug that could have prevented the Preferences window from opening for some Users. If ClipBar is useful to you and you have the time to leave a nice review, it helps a lot! Thank you, and please stay safe! -Cesare
I can't express how grateful I am for how ClipBar has been welcomed: the app has reached over 140 upvotes on Product Hunt, pretty cool for a nerdy utility! So, I keep the updates coming... and version 1.3 adds a couple of handy features: • You can now share the current content of your pasteboard (be it text or an image) to other apps with the share button in the lower left corner of ClipBar's popover (which appears when you click on the app in the Menu Bar). • ClipBar popover is now more effective when you have copied a bunch of text and want to keep only part of it: when the popover is visible, select the text you want to keep and either right-click and copy, or hit CMD+C. ClipBar is an indie passion project, so 5 stars reviews and word of mouth allow me to keep working on it! And please, don't hesitate getting it touch at support@cdf1982.com, I take pride in replying to all emails. Ciao from Italy –Cesare
Thank you for such an amazing support for ClipBar, with over 90 upvotes on Product Hunt and more downloads than I'd have ever imagined! Version 1.2 brings lots of improvements: • Click on ClipBar and a preview of your last pasteboard item will appear: for text and file paths, this means a larger and untruncated preview that you can actually use for selecting and copying only part of the current content; for images, you can now view a preview of the picture, not only its size. ClipBar's menu for accessing Preferences, Support, etc. is still available, but now you need to right-click (or click on the gear in the preview popover). • If you hover your mouse on ClipBar's menu bar item, you can now see a full, untruncated preview of your text and file paths. • ClipBar now tries to detect and conceal passwords; this privacy safeguard is based on an existing agreement between some software developers (please see nspasteboard.org for details) and can't be 100% accurate with all apps, so please be careful when screen-sharing or when you are around other people; if you liked the previous behaviour and prefer to see all your passwords in plain text, this new feature can be disabled in Preferences. • New screenshots for the Mac App Store, so that you can have a better idea of how the app works and what it can do for your workflow. ClipBar is an indie app, so your 5 stars reviews and word of mouth make a huge difference! And please, don't hesitate to contact me at support@cdf1982.com. Have a great and safe day! –Cesare
Thank you for using ClipBar! A couple of tweaks immediately after launch: • Fixed a bug that prevented file paths to be truncated according to preferences. • If you leave your mouse pointer over ClipBar in the Menu Bar for a second, the app now displays a tooltip with the complete text content (or file path) from your last pasteboard item. ClipBar is an indie app, so your 5 stars review and word of mouth make a huge difference! And please, don't hesitate to contact me at support@cdf1982.com Have a great and safe day! –Cesare
