Big update, big changes! Subtitle Me is now Transcrybe — the same app you love, now faster, smarter, and with a brand-new name. Here’s what’s new: * Powered by Whisper (on M1+ Macs) Transcrybe now uses OpenAI’s Whisper for lightning-fast, on-device transcription with improved accuracy. On Intel Macs, macOS’s built-in transcription is still supported. * Translate audio from other apps Now you can subtitle not just your mic, but also the audio from any other app on your Mac — like Zoom, YouTube, or Spotify. * New name, same mission We’ve rebranded from Subtitle Me to Transcrybe to better reflect what the app does: live transcription + translation, fully on-device. * New subscription model Transcrybe now uses a subscription to support continued development. But don’t worry — if you previously purchased the app, you’ve been automatically upgraded to a lifetime subscription as a thank-you for your early support. * UI improvements and performance polish Better menu bar experience, more responsive subtitles, and lots of small fixes to keep things smooth. Thanks again for being part of this journey — we’re just getting started!
