Updated developer contact information. Apparently I can't stop collecting social networks.
Updated developer contact information. Hello to all the new users of Museum Shuffle! :-)
Did you miss us?? # Resizable Images You’ve always been able to tap on an image during a shuffle and when viewing details about a saved favorite. However, a pinch to zoom gesture was always locked into zooming in from the center of the image. Now you can pinch to zoom from any part of the image. Thanks to Stewart Lynch and Ryan Lintott for the help with this. # Accessibility Small improvements to some VoiceOver messages. # Privacy Added internal privacy declaration for upcoming requirements. # Widgets Removed widget support for the moment because of an incompatibility with the newest version of iOS.
* Small localization change.
* Updated contact information.
* VoiceOver enhancements. * Code changes to make sure that widgets work with the latest version of iOS.
* Small maintenance release.
* Small correction to Dutch translation file.
* Dutch language support! I’m very happy to announce that the app has been translated to Dutch. Considering that the Rijksmuseum “is the national museum of the Netherlands” I’m hoping that this update makes the app more useful to many people. * Added a “Thank You” section to the “More” tab.
* Added more info about the developer (that's me!). * Added some missing accessibility elements.
* Improved the code used to generate random numbers. That's rather important in an app that randomly selects artwork!
* Improved the way sorting is performed by the sort options on the Favorites tab.
* Added a visual (and VoiceOver) hint that the image in the detail view can be magnified with a pinch gesture. * Miscellaneous VoiceOver improvements.
Widget update! * The widget now shows text by default. * The small widget now shows the title so that you can learn the more about the artwork that you saved as a favorite. * The large widget also shows the name of the artist along with the title if there is room. * Not a fan of text? No problem! You can configure the widget not to show text if you would rather just look at the lovely artwork. Long press on the widget and select “Edit Widget” to get to the configuration menu. * The widget now takes the you to the favorites tab when you tap on it, which is where the saved favorites are located. Get faster access to that artwork that the widget showed you! PLEASE NOTE: If you had the widget that could not show text installed you will probably need to remove the widget and add it again for it to work properly.
* Widget support! - Your favorite shuffle app that returns random art from a museum will now display random entries from your saved favorites in a widget! Now that beautiful artwork doesn't have to be hidden when you're not using Museum Shuffle. It can be front and center on your home screen! * Enhanced VoiceOver support - The app's user interface should be much more intuitive for VoiceOver users. If you feel that areas could be improved please reach out! There is a "Contact" section under the "More" tab. * File storage optimization - Usually the pictures returned from the museum are under 2 MB, with the majority being under 1 MB. However, sometimes a huge file can be returned (well over 10 MB). When you save them as a favorite those images will now be compressed, which drastically reduces the file storage used. If some of those huge files had already snuck into your favorites list the app will also compress those. You're welcome!
Welcome to Museum Shuffle 2.0! The entire user interface has been rewritten to provide a much better experience. * The saved favorites are now displayed in a grid. You can control the number of columns via the “Columns” button on the top left of the Favorites tab. If you prefer a list of favorites you can still switch back to that by pressing the blue button on the bottom right of the Favorites tab. There’s also a switch in the app settings that can control this. * Many new categories have been added to the “Search” tab. Enjoying exploring a wider variety of artwork. * Many more sort options for saved Favorites. * The app is much better at handling large, dynamic fonts if the user has them enabled. * The shuffle algorithm has been tweaked to return excellent categories more often. * The app will honor the “reduce motion” setting in the iOS accessibility settings. Please note: The method for storing saved favorites has changed and is NOT compatible with prior versions of Museum Shuffle. If you upgrade to 2.0 your old saved favorites will be lost. Sorry!
* Swipe functionality has been restored to shuffles! iOS 13 changed how views are loaded by default. This update restores the original view method and you can once again swipe to go to back and forth between all of the artwork in a shuffle.
* Small update for some maintenance work. * If you've been dreaming of being able to search for "tureen" as an object type you now can! "jewellery" was added as well. Both of them return some very nice art!
* Support for iOS 13's Dark Mode! Better late than never, right? Right?
* Siri shortcut support! Perform any shuffle and the app will register the shortcut for you. Then go into your device's settings and under "Siri & Search" you can add a shortcut for Museum Shuffle. Now you can start a shuffle for random artwork with your voice! * Minimum requirement changed to be iOS 12.
* Added developer contact information in "About" under the "More" tab. Please reach out if you have comments about the app! * Added help text that will display on the "Favorites" tab if there are no saved favorites.
* A new way to display favorites was needed. If the user had gone into the device settings and configured a very large font then the favorites list would only show giant pictures with no text. That's no fun!
* Added a new option under the settings menu that lets you sort your favorites by the artist's name instead of by the artwork's title. When looking at your saved favorites this way you might find that a particular artist has really caught your attention!
* You can now select which animated transitions are used during a shuffle. You'll find several choices in the settings menu (dissolve is a personal favorite). Note: if you have "Reduce Motion" turned on in the app then animated transitions are disabled.
Privacy update! Museum Shuffle does keep track of how many pieces of artwork the museum says exist for each type of artwork returned in shuffles. This allows the app to return a much larger variety of artwork in future shuffles you perform. If you'd rather this information not be stored you now have the ability to erase it and keep it from being stored via a new privacy section of the settings menu. Shuffle the way you want to with confidence!
